Default numbers matching 69

i have a 69 camaro thats been in the family since the mid 70's. ive been able to match the block to the vin and have an x11 trim tag under the hood. the number on the block is a HD 350. Im doing a full restoration and am wondering if i should rebuild the motor and put it back to original condition or can i put in a 327 i have that was built for racing and put that in the camaro without effecting the value of the vehicle. the 327 will put out over 300 horse and the 350 that was in it was rated for 55 horse.

55 horse 350?

Anyway, you can use the 327 it should be plug and play in place of the 350 but hang on to that stock original motor for sure as numbers matching cars are rare.

if the car is really an original, changing out anything that isn't a numbers matching part will severely hurt the value of the car

yea, I never heard of a 55hp 350 either. The tubo fire 350 was rated at 300 horse in 69 right? either way. 1969 SS is right anything that isn't a numbers matching part will severely hurt the value of the car. But you can just hang onto the original engine so that you can always put it back or offer it with the car should you ever sell it. It really just depends on what you are going to do with the car. Are you building it to drive and enjoy or sell for profit. Are you putting it in the garage for show? its all relative, everybodys circumstances are different.
