Default Need help identifying engine block

Recently purchased a 1967 camaro with a 427. Engine casting 3963512. Also stamped pass hi perf. On the front of the block it is stamped 11J170224. Trying to figure out year and model of vehicle it came out of originally. Thank you.

I just bought the same block, crank and heads for my 68 last month
Guy told me it came out of a full size Chev like a Biscayne
He had 5 Corvettes and said it was not a Corvette motor as it has a Nodular iron cast crank
My block had been decked so all my numbers are gone or mostly gone from the front
The Chevelle boys site has a ton of info and so does the Tri 5 site
I use that nastyZ28 site too (this page comes from there)

Good luck
Enjoy

I have it identified as a 1969-1971 427 performance out of a passenger car. Was hoping someone could help decoding the stamp on the front of the block. As I understand it that includes information about the original car including a partial VIN number.

An old Motors manual will say but they used to be wrong on occasion
I have a few, I will look through my books. I wish the numbers were on my block
The engine code is the suffix after those vin numbers you posted
You need a 1975 book like this 1978
It will go back to 70 maybe but you will need the suffix of the 2 or 3 letters after the numbers Here is the earliest page that my 78 book has for Chevrolet
A truck Motors manual will list the GMC engines
I will look for my older book

Okay, here you go if you found the engine suffix off your block
Here is the old book I have and a few of its pages
