Name that noise!!!!!!!!!!! Baffled..........
Just hit the road with my restored subframe/front suspension just installed. Had the front end aligned and everything was square.
Went down the road and messed with the timing first. That put 2-3 miles on the car. Second time out went a mile and starting hearing a metalic knock from the front suspension. I can replicate it by pushing down on the fender, and it is a medium pitch metalic noise that seems to be coming from the lower control arm mounts at the subframe. All bushings are new, as are tierods and ball joints. The noise is loud enough that you could hear it at 150 yards. It is coming from both sides independantly. I can feel it near or at the lower control arm bushing. I just can't picture what could be occurring to cause that. It has no effect on performance/steering. Just sounds like a jiffy pop popcorn pan coming down the road.

Also, check every nut and bolt. Check the front shock lower mountingbolts. One broke on my car, and I could not figure out where the rattling and popping noises were coming from. The noise traveled thru out the chasi, and I thought it was coming from the steering linkage. Installed a new set of lower mounting bolts and no more noises.
And the issue isssssssssssssssssss.............................
GREASE!!!!!!!!!
Ball joints were the source. They are new and I did not grease any joint during assembly, too messy. A full boot of grease and noise gone. So many things to remember, so few brain cells.
