Default Mini starter issue, please help...

I have a 68 camaro with and I just put in a four speed saginaw with a corvette flywheel and a new mini starter, my issue is the starter seems to engage and turn the engine over fine then I'll try and start it again and the starter gear seems to not engage just grinding noise, a visual insepction does not show any damage at this time so help me keep it like that and figure this mess out... thanks everyone!

You need to check your gear mesh, and shim the starter if needed, which sounds like that's what it needs.
Here are the directions: https://camaroforums.com/forum/gener...himming-20175/
They call for using an .020 wire shim between the gears, but some guys like to use a straightened small size paper clip, which is a hair under .040.
