LS3 engine swap
Hello all,
I currently own a 69 camaro with a non numbers matching 350. I'm interested in swapping in an LS3. Has anyone completed a swap like this, and if so, what all would I need? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.....Clint

i have swapped a fuel injected LT1 into a jeep cj7....it cant be that much different as far as finding motor mounts, fan setup,exhaust,bellhousing...etc....that part was easy...if your planning on swapping the ls3 and the computer into it...getting the codes and stuff to work with the camaros wiring may be an issue(as it was with my swap)...im assuming your planning on the fuel injection and computer stuff to go with it....the LS3 is an awesome engine....i wish u luck

I have done this to my 69. LS3, 4L80E, dana 60, etc. There are a BUTT TON of pics in the "sticky" link here under "members projects". It's actually not too difficult of a swap if you're familiar with the LS series of engines. I bought my motor, accessories, trans, computer, harnesses, etc., etc. through a place on e-bay for $10.5K. With a 1 year warrantee (motor was new). If you have any questions on the swap please ask. But it's great having a car with the 69 body, but runs like a new vette just off the dealers lot.

I did the entire BRP setup. I DON'T recommend it now though. I used the Hummer H2 pan. If you go that route, I recommend going through GM directly (cheaper than the 'specialty' place I got mine by over $100). I know summit even sells kits to install the LS engines now so that may be a way to make it easy. The header fitment is the other clearance issue you may have to deal with if you piece together different parts... You'll have enough engineering parts during the rest of the swap to have to worry about these issues....

The 1-7/8" headers from BRP. They are actually Headman headers though. I did learn that if you go with 1-3/4" headers, that's actually smaller than the exhaust port on the LS-3 so go with the 1-7/8.
