Default Intake manifold rehab

What can I do to my cast iron 4bbl intake to make it look and or perform better? I have found a date correct piece that I can mess with for a year while I locate other parts. Want it to look stock, but would like some possible options for performance enhancements.

You could port it out.... but the aluminum ones are a much better option.

X2, to keep the original look and improve performance all there is to do is internal, since there isnt much to it, all you can do is port itout and polish the inside.

If you're after the original look, you could buy a good aftermarket manifold, grind off the overpowering product name, and paint it Chevy Orange. Anything you do to the cast iron one won't get you even close to the performance capabilities of an aftermarket aluminum one. Stash the date correct manifold in the corner of the garage.
