Holly or Edelbrock

Holly or Edelbrock
Have a Holley “Quick Fuel” Carb and thinking of the Edelbrock 1405 on my 350 Small Block. Is one superior over the other for less tinkering and consistency with starts and less stalling? Also thinking to maybe go EFI maybe Holley Snipper but thinking if you break down your hooped with efi.

Well carbs are one thing you'll get many different opinions on kinda like an oil thread. lol
Some people prefer a well set up Quadrajet over either.
Depends a lot on what you do with the car and what other mods you have, what intake and exhaust for instance.
For a drag race application I'll take a classic Holley double pumper with manual secondaries and a manual choke on a single plane manifold like an Edelbrock Torker.
For a nice street cruiser maybe the Edelbrock or a Q-jet on a mild high rise dual plane intake like an Edelbrock Performer.
I have a 454 in my '78 GMC pickup and I run a 750 Q-jet from a Cadillac 500 motor on top of an Edelbrock Performer,it has nice manners and always starts right up and idles but I don't have a big cam either just a mild torque cam.
There are a lot of well thought out and tested packages these days proven to work together that may include as much as a cam and heads with intake and cab or as little as just an intake and carb.
Maybe keep what you have for now and talk to a good tuner if you have one in your area.
They may be able to dial in what you have and make it purr like a kitten.

OP
The Edelbrock is basically a Carter AFB design. I have had the 1406 , electric choke, on a few SB and they for me were very easy to set up and were very close out of the box. I am using a 1406 on my new 355 with a Edelbrock Performer Air Gap intake

Holley Avenger! Works decent out of the box will all the adjustment Holley is famous for. .Just my opinion but you should find a tuner, ask him what carb he recommends and get the carb dyno tuned by him. Well worth the money. .
