Help? Is my 1968 RS/SS convertible for real?!

Tracking down the previous owners.
I was able to get the name of the guy my uncle and father purchased the car from. Please leave a post if you want me to get a hold of him I'd be glad to help track down the history of the car here in MN im curious myself. Also when we bought the car it had rally wheels that my father replaced with the current wheels that are on the car now. I still have them in boxes too.

1968 Camaro convertible with black houndstooth
I have a car similar to Scott's. My RS/SS 396 convertible has the same options (including fiber optics) minus 8 track, interior trunk release, cruise control and space saver spare. The point I wanted to make is I too have a houndstooth (749 black on the trim tag) in the convertible. I know the brochure says that houndstooth is not on a convertible. But, go figure. We know now that there are at least 2 of them out there.
As to a 396 engine, the factory installed a larger brake line for the rear brakes with a metering valve on the frame about halfway back to insure adequate and balanced braking between the front and rear in consideration of the heavier engine. Look for the valve. .
One of the ways I've heard to tell if its a real RS is to look at the back-up light housing. If it's been uniformly "stamped", it's a real RS. If it looks like it's been "cut", it's likely not real.
BTW, I not sure what is real and what was added, but I'm not too concerned about. Scott, I travel to San Luis Obispo often and would enjoy seeing your car sometime.
