68 Camaro SS Convertible! Need Your Help and Opinions
Hi everyone. I've recently purchased a 1968 Camaro SS Convertible. I have no reason to believe this is not a true SS Camaro Convertible, however, I do not have supporting information such as Protect-O-Plate or build sheet. I only have the word of the seller who was the second owner of the car, who purchased the car in 1972 from the original owner. All of the info that I've been able to ascertain from the vehicle support that it could be a true SS. It is a numbers matching, 350/295 horse spitfire engine matched with the original PowerGlide transmission.
Here are the number from the vehicle:
VIN: 124678N428094
Engine Partial VIN: 18N428094
Other Engine #? V0404MU (this number appears next to partial VIN)
Trim Tag Info:
Body By Fisher
05A
ST 68-12467 NOR128007 BODY
TR 722 Y2 PAINT
The car has the original 12 bolt posi-traction rear axle, however I'm not able to see the numbers on the axle at this point.
Is there anything else I should be looking for to identify this as a real SS car? It has all the original badging, pitted and all, down to the SS emblem on the steering wheel.
Thanks in advance for your help and professional opinions! Ask questions if you have them and I'll do my best to answer them.

You don't need anything else to verify it as an SS car. A numbers matching 350, as yours is, means it is an SS car. A "regular", or non-SS 1st gen Camaro didn't get the 350.
Thanks Camaro 69! I appreciate your expertise. In your opinion, is a 68 SS Convertible a rare find?
here are some pics - original color was butternut yellow, which I am going to restore back to its original glory.

Nice ones with matching numbers are more rare. It looks like you have a pretty nice one to work with there.
12,496 1968 SS350 models, and 20,440 convertibles were built. But I know of no database that tells what option combinations were put together.
