Default Heater Core

My '69 just started leaking from the heater core as I was about to go on a 50 mile trip with it. Not much leaking at all but I took a chance and made it fine and it stopped leaking. What is the procedure for replacing it on a '69? Does the fender have to come off?

when you're putting it back together it's kind of nice to have a second person there. one of you can be under the dash pushing the box forward while the second one is tightening the nuts in the engine compartment.

this is also a good time to replace the firewall insulation/sound deadenerinside the car because the heater box is the only thing in the way when you want to do it, and now it isn't
