Heater Core

RE: Heater Core
if its a 3rd gen, its under the dash on the passenger side. i replaced mine not too long ago. it takes a good 4 to 6 hours depending on if you know what your doing. unhook your heater lines from your engine compartment , then slowly take apart your dash, take your time when you do it because i broke a lot of things and it was a pain trying to fix them. there are about 4 screws you need to take off from a black box. youll know when you see it. the cover comes right off but when you put in the new core do it slowly so you dont bend the pipes. when its in, make sure it works before you put everything back in, the cores can be bad sometimes. it woulld save you the hassle of doing it again.you can do it with out takeing apart the dash but its a lot easier to get to them this way. youll need to take out your center consule too because the screws that hold down the dash are everywhere[:'(] its not that bad if you have the time and your patient with it. good luck.

RE: Heater Core
agreed, for this job inparticular, even my haynes manual was VERY helpfull. Little tips and whatnot that i wouldnt have thought of. Knowing nothing about changing a core, i had mine out and back in the car in about 6 hours, includeing two runs to the auto store for various thing, plus a run to get a then g/f. Who for some reason wanted to be there..
