Recently purchased this heat shield along with retaining nut from Ricks Camaro (Ecklers)
Cant seem to figure out how to install the darn thing!
Ive attached some pics
1. heat shield & retaining nut
2. bare starter
3. how i think its supposed to be installed but dont feel comfortable with it...

Any ideas on how to intall this along with the retaining nut?
Do I have the correct starter for this type of shield/nut?

Any help is greatly appreciated guys!!

that looks appropriate to me. I just installed one on mine and it was bigger to shield the entire starter and solenoid. It helped prevent the hot start problem, but didn't totally eliminate it. I am adding the remote solenoid next weekend.
