Yes its the passenger side. I have tried to mount it on driver side but doesnt fit. Even though I didnt take it apart I do know that the light in the picture came off the passenger side.

I'm pretty sure the headlight housing does not bolt to the fender. At least they do not on a 69. The fender tabs are for the grille and the tabs on the headlight bucket are for the headlight trim. Heres a pic of mine a while back, the housing is nowhere close to the fender.

Yes, both tabs are supposed to mount to the side fender bracket, see illustration below. My 69 headlights are different from yours, and a bit further away from the fenders. On the outboard side, I have a lower tab that mounts to the inner fender, and an upper tab that mounts to the fender drop lip, where it bolts to the nose piece. It appears your year fenders may not have mounting brackets for conventional buckets when it has them for the RS, and vice-versa. That's not an issue with the 69, as standard lights don't mount to the fender side like yours does. Can you put up a pic with the headlight assembly on the car?

You can see the 2 tabs on the fender cant bolt up to the headlight housing.

Instead of abandoning the fenders, I'd customize the tabs on the headlight brackets. On the lower one, you could straighten it out (where it's at a 90), angle it down, and drill a hole in that lower lip of the fender. The top is hard to tell the depth, but a strap of steel from fender to bracket should do the trick. You'll never see that stuff once the grille is on. But one more question, does your grille screw to the fender at all, and are the brackets there for it if it does?

The grille is already on the car it doesnt bolt up to the fender. Here is a picture of the bezel the goes around the headlight. The top right hole in the bezel doesnt have a tab on the fender to bolt to. This is becoming a real pain in the butt. Maybe I should just spend the money and go to a RS front end.

I like the RS look better, that's your call. At least part of the battle for the conversion is done, you have the fenders for it.

to me the rs grill of a 67-68 camaro is the meanest thing to see in the rear veiw mirror.
