hello just got a 68 camaro with a crate motor 350, with maybe a mild cam. 750 carb. auto trans. eletron ignition
Camaro hard to start, idles high. stalls a low idle and when putting in reverse. i have to keep the idle from dropping or the motor stalls.
going to change the sparks plugs tomorrow, any ideas that would help me diagonose the problem. thanks.

This doesn't belong in the Technical Write-up Submissions section. Moving you to First Gen.....
First thing I would check is to make sure your choke is closing when the engine is cold, and opening fully when it's hot.

I agree with 69.
From there, check for vacuum leaks, especially from your carb. Make sure that all the vacuum ports that are not being used are plugged.
You should have a small vacuum line from the carb to your distributor.
another one from you manifold, or base of your carb to your power brakes
Last one from your manifold, or base of your carb to your pcv valve.
Guys, did I miss any?
Another thing you can do which is easy, is check to see if your intake is leaking, or the gasket for the base of your carb. Just grab a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the base of your carb and where the intake meets the heads. You'll hear a noticeable difference in idle if the carb cleaner finds a leak.
And of course, check your timing...
Good luck!
