guages vs idiot lights
I don't know about you guys but I just don't like idiot lights for oil pressure and water temp. They just don't tell you enough about whats going on with your engine. Having just bought my first Camaro I decided to add gauges to see what thermostat I had and what the oil pressure is when the engine is up to operating temp. I found I had a 195 thermostat (that I changed to a 180) and the oil pressure runs around 30 to 40 which seems OK to me.
How many of you guys added gauges too?

One of mine has idiot lights and the other has factory gauges. I've had the idiot light one since '75 and it's never been a problem. They come on when they're supposed to (which has been really-really rare, twice as a matter of fact, both times charging problems). Gauges are a lot more accurate of course and since you just got it I'd keep them on it for a while at least, if not permanently, since you already have them.
Don't forget that some cars come with idiot gauges. These gauges are driven by a switch, just like an idiot light. They always stay in the good range until something goes totally wrong, and then it's too late to do anything about it.
You know its funny, todays cars have so many seneors and gagues but it still cant just tell you to replace the XXXX part, you still have to go and hook it up to another computer to see what this or that code means.
