Default Greetings from Scotland

Hi Guys

I live in Scotland and I am looking to bring a 67-69 Camaro into the UK for my own use. There are on the market over here but not quite what I am looking for.

I am after a car that looks good (not concours quality), has a tidy engine, is reliable and rust free (we get a lot of rain). Ideally one that has been given a good restoration in the last few years budget is about $30-$35K.

I am not after zooped up megacars, I just want a nice looking car that drives well.

Was hoping to get some advice on a few things and I'd be thrilled if some of you could help.

1. where is the best place to find a good example?

2. is it more cost effective to buy a car that needs a bit of work and get a shop in the states to get it in good order or buy from a dealer

3. will most US car dealers open to negotiation?

4. is there anything I should be looking for good or bad in particular

thanks you very much in advance

Buying any car off the internet without seeing it is not recommended. So many misrepresented cars. Being in Scotland if you are not flying over to inspect than get a qualified independent appraiser in the market area of a car you find to go inspect the car and give you a report on its condition and value

Cars sold by private party (owner) would be better price. Any "dealership" or "consignment" place will say anything to sell a car and certainly be about $5-$10k higher than a particular car is worth...that's how they make their money.

With this said there are many good "base model" Camaros that have been refreshed with paint, interior and the engine and transmission function properly. Yeah these are not perfect cars but very drivable

Pictures are helpful but can be deceiving but given you are in Scotland they will be the initial source for you. If the Cowl tag and VIN plate is not shown than that is a signal to insist they be provided. This site is very good for reference in decoding Cowl & VIN tag information and full of specific information on all options available.

Good luck in your search and ask ? as car guys here on this and other forums will be very helpful and knowledgeable to answer ?'s
