I want to buy a salvage camaro, should I do it?
Hi guys! I'm looking to buy a salvage 3rd generation camaro. The most important requirement for me is it can't be flooded car (not salt water at least), as it might be too dangerous. So I wanted to ask, what car would you choose?
Repairable 1991 CHEVROLET CAMARO RS for sale in TN - MADISONVILLE, Lot 12565974
Salvage 1989 Chevrolet Camaro for sale in Eugene, Oregon. 1G1FP21S3KL121729
Salvage 1991 CHEVROLET CAMARO for sale. Damage: FRONT END. VIN: 1G1FP2382ML150398
Salvage 1992 CHEVROLET CAMARO for sale. Damage: FRONT END. VIN: 1G1FP23T4NL126593
And can I buy it from auto auction or I need to see the car myself, test drive it and so on? Please if someone has such an experience, it would be great it you share your impressions, thanks!

Well if I were to get a salvage car I deferentially want to see it in person and if does run test drive it. Also if this not for a parts car and you want to fix it up for yourself it be best to get one that only has body damage. Any engine transmission or frame damage could cost you a lot and in the end would been better off getting one that wasn't salvaged.
mine was just a used one but because it was so cheap is it needed a new radiator brake line a battery and the rear wheel wells are rusted threw. so long as it wasnt major issues getting one with some problems are ok and wouldnt cost too much money in the end
heres an example of one https://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/4288615768.html some people just need money so youll get a steal with little work needed
Insurance companies sell salvage cars because they are either not worth fixing or cannot be fixed so that they are safe to drive. A car sold as salvage due to flooding will become a continuous PIA as time goes on. Once soaked, corrosion of the electrical system keeps going on. It will make a good hobby car if you enjoy fixing weird problems instead of driving the car.

With the exception of the Z28 I did not see anything that should sell above scrap value. The Z would most like sell as a parts car.
I have seen VERY nice v6 3rd gens totaled because of hitting a wood fence. These are have cosmedic damage only and could be retitled with no work. They still rarely bring over $1000 at auction. I am not bashing 3rd gen V6s but even in good shape they have a tuff time getting more then $1200 in the off season. Problem you are going to have is that this is the time Camaro sales are at their highest. From now to June is the best time to sell a camaro not buy one.
Unfinish projects is where you can find the best deals.

The white Z28 is the only one I would consider. It looks pretty clean, hopefully it drives. The damage looks to be limited to mostly the hood, probably drove under a truck or something of that nature. Are you in the Chicago area? Be sure to factor in transportation costs if you're not. Hmmmm, where exactly is that car at?
