Default EDP Coated Metal Prep/Paint

Hey guys, looking for a sanity check. I have a new radiator support and both fender skirts that are EDP coated. It is my understanding that I have to do the following before I can install them:

1. scuff the EDP
2. spray them with self-etching primer
3. spray them with a standard or epoxy primer
4. paint them (I'll also undercoat the wheel wells)

Now, this seems like a lot of work to make a black part black again. Are the steps above correct?
