Default Dreaming for down the line. Conv vs coupe?

How well would a convertable handle 700 hp? I would think the body wouldn't like it much. I'd definately rather have a convertable, but if 700 hp would be harsh, I'll go coupe. No roll cage either way as I need room for passengers and also to look nice with the top down.

It would not without heavy modification. GM engineers did not want to put the big block in the rag tops but marketing forced their hand. Marketing wanted to offer a rag top Z28 in 68 but the engineers won that one. It was not uncommon back in the day to see rag tops that where twisted and could not be aligned. Heck even with a stock 350, if you take the small center brace off the car, you can damage the body.

You would need something like this

Thanks for your "ho". However, I would like to stand my ground against 2010 Camaros with a simple Whipple or Magnacharger strapped on as well as those modified WRX/EVOs out there.

I'm definitely not opposed to an after market frame from any of the numerous manufactures out there. So, assuming an aftermarket frame, but still a convertible, would I be looking for trouble still?

you can drop a 1000 hp in any car and make it solid all depends on how much you want to spend!!

You would want to call some the the frame manufactures. They can give you the real info. Here your just going to get guesses. Most of the complete frames systems are designed to handle extream HP and maintain good rigidity for handling. They end up beefing up the frame so much for cornering that it can handle just about any straight line stuff.

You realize without a cage no drag strip will let you on it in a convertable if it even looks a little fast. I took my almost stock RS/SS to the strip one day back in the 90's and they would not let me run cause when they heard it they just assumed it was faster then 15 second. I am only push 325 ponies.

i agree with gorn. heck even a coupe that looks likes its fast they wont let you onto the track with out a helmet and at least a roll bar and a racing harness. a covertible will just be told to flat leave
