Default Am I dreaming or just nuts?

I am looking for a 69 convertible, preferably an RS/SS or at least an SS. Now there are plenty out there for sale, but I do not want one that has already been restored. Can anyone give me a good idea of any resources or places to start looking for such an elusive beast? Or should I just pack up the search and go back to my own little dream world???

We have all been dreaming at one point in our search. I thought my dream of owning a '69 would never come true but its sitting in the garage. I have to pinch myself everytime I walk out there. The usual sources are always gonna be the same.... Ebay, Craigslist, AutoTrader, any and all classifieds, we have a local paper called the Thrifty Nickle. Just always triple check the VINs and Dont buy anything without seeing it in Person. There are still some good cars outs there to be had. I've seen several nice "Barn finds" here locally that the owners are sitting on for now. Good Luck with your search.

Finding an unrestored 40 year old car is pretty tough. Most have had several paint jobs by now and have been through many owners.

Your best bet is to check the south west desert areas where more will still be intact and possibly unrestored.

The biggest problem with looking for an SS convertible is that they are highly sought after and any original owner has been assaulted for decades by people wanting to buy their car.

I have had my 68 for nearly 23 years and I am the second owner. I get at least one person a month knocking on my door wanting to know if I want to sell my car and you can't even see my car from the street. Everybody around knows it is there and the word gets out when someone is looking for one.

I for one am a little confused, are you looking for a clean survivor or a car to restore?
What shape? a driver or a basket case in need of pretty much everything?
If you're looking for a nice unmolested original car in nice condition they're out there but few and far between and you'll be looking at big bucks should you find one for sale.
There are one owner cars out there and once in a while they end up in an estate sale when the original owner passes on and no family members want the car for themselves.
We can all dream of that barn find but finding one ain't easy.

An L78 M22 pace car. Pretty rare animal. So rare you would probably never drive it for fear of hurting anything, which brings up a good question, do you want a numbers matching car or just an unmodified one that could have a replacement engine in it?

There seems to be a lot of classics for sale in the Ohio area for some reason. Get your hands on the Ohio/WNY Classic Auto Trader Classifieds. There are a ton of cars in there all the time. I got my Z/28 RS south of Columbus, Ohio back in 2002. Seemed like everyone out that way had one. Good luck!
