Have you replaced the bulb?
Checked to see if the fuse that controls the dome light is good?
Will it come on if you turn the dimmer/headlight switch on?
You may have to drop the housing from the roof(2 screws, i believe)and check to see that it is connected properly.

just use a testlight at the switches and see if you have power there. this will give you a good start/finish point before you get involved with something else

use the test light at the bulb one of the metal clips that hold the bulb in should be hot to ground. If there is no power there then check fuse. The dome light has power all the time the door switch just completes the circuit by making the ground point. I have seen the door switches get corroded over time and not make a good ground. Sometimes if you twist them back and forth a little it will clean them enough to make a good ground
