Cooling question using Vintage Air
I have a 69 Camaro with the Chevy 350/290HP crate motor, 4 speed, and Vintage Air. I restored the car with the original style radiator, fan, and shroud. I like the original look but to no one’s surprise, the radiator does not cool sufficiently in the Texas heat when the ac is running. My first question is, does anyone living in the south successfully run a 4-core aluminum radiator and original shroud and fan while using the ac? My second question is, does anyone living in the south successfully run a 4-core aluminum radiator and original shroud but with an electric fan? If so, which fan are you using? This is not about the cost. It’s about the look.

1st gens with AC came with a 23" vs 21" radiator. IIRC the 23" are 3 row. The shroud is different for the 23" and available by OER. I got mine at Summit. Also have a 5 blade (asymmetrical) fan w/fan clutch. It gets over 100+ out here in SoCal during summer.

I just installed vintage air in my 68 big block. I have a stock big block radiator and replaced the clutch fan with the biggest flex fan I could fit. I then added a electric fan in front of the ac condenser with a thermostatic switch the fan comes on at 185 degrees. I drove all around the local streets with the ac on and the temp never went above the half way point on the factory gauge before the electric fan the car would have been in the red.
