Default 1979 Z28 Camaro Fan Shroud Question?

Does anyone know what the size of the radiator fan is for a 1979 z28 camaro with AC is. Does it have 5 blades or does it have more. I am having trouble where it is over heating and everything on the engine is new except the engine block. I recently had to put new heads on the block because they cracked and it has been over heating. I suspect i will need to shave the block or get a new one. I currently have a dual electric fan on the radiator(brand new radiator too!) and a friend suggested that a mechanical fan would pull more air across and that might be the problem.

I would think your set up is good. Is it a new aluminum rad or copper/brass? Does it have a thermostat in it? Yes a mechanical fan should work too. But I think your having issues other than that. I can't help you with the stock fan, mine doesn't have one. I have a 26" aluminum rad that cooled a 10 sec 540 (on the street( before I grabbed it from a buddy.

Welcome.

With out air conditioning on it operates at 230 to 240, with no visible leaks other than power steering.

Std. narrow radiator, or wide? They make them in 26" or 31". I'm using the wider BBC radiator.
Get a timing light on the engine and check that the timing is not too advanced. That will cause heating issues for sure!

Are your dual fans just attached to the radistor individually, or are they mounted to a shroud? If not on a shroud, then buying or building a shroud for them will help a lot. Also if they are mounted as pushers, then relocating them to a shroud as pullers will help a lot.
