Well your Unilite does want a ballast wire/resistor unlike any other HEI per their 411. Those distributors are really not used much anymore.

If you want full 12v to coil, remove the white resistance wire, just tape it back in the wire loom, and run a 10-gauge braided copper wire from IGN tap on fuse block to the + coil. Your coil will be fine but the Unilite module likely will burn up.

A stock distributor with a Pertronix module would be my recommendation. The Pertronix needs full 12 v so bypass the resistance wire to coil as I mentioned

Default Pertronix

Thanks. This is very helpful. I check out their distributor.

Not familiar with that one

MSD 8360 is commonly used in SBC.

A stock points distributor with a Pertronix module if you want to keep a stock looking distributor which is what I have along with a Pertronix coil mounted in stock position

If you mount a coil, oil filled, not straight up, they leak. Use a solid core coil which are readily available.

+1 for the MSD if you are not going with a HEI
Keep a points distributor in the trunk to get you home

The MSD I noted is not a points dizzy. It is an HEI but requires a outboard coil like a stock points dizzy. It is not the GM HEI with coil in cap dizzy. Those will work but require denting of firewall to fit as the base and cap are much bigger than a "small body" type

Mutiple Spark Discharge
Correct, MSD has never used points
I said keep a conventional old school points distributor in the trunk (to get you home), when the module fails on either one of those electronic ones
If you research those failing 4AL boxes, one, or the fix is a DuraSpark module for the MSD distributor

MSD=Must Suddenly Die

HEI type dizzys, not a bad idea keeping a spare module in trunk with a $1 blister pack of heat sink paste.

I have had good luck with stock point dizzys in chevy or ford motors using a Pertronix module in them. Also you can just put points back in.

regarding spare parts to have with any car, AAA card.
