Default Camaro starter issues

Hello,

Recently i have some issues with the starter of my camaro.

It's an '75 350 V8 engine.

I have opened my starter and the brushes are ok. When i put the - on my starter and put the + on the starter and connect the contact the starter tiks because the mechanical shifter is pushed forward but the starter doesn't turn ... So when i put - on the starter and connect the rotor straight to the + it turns !

so it goes perfect sep. but when it comes together it doesn't work !

can somebody help me pleas ?

thanks already...

Did you check the fuel pump. It could very well be that.

Could be bad contact in the solenoid section, the contacts close to provide a path for battery + to the motor brushes.

As Pete suggests, common problem with a very well used solenoid.
You can take of the plastic cap, reverse the bolts and turn the disc to gain 'new' contact points between these items.
Or buy a new AC/Delco or Standard Motor Products solenoid.

I remember my first 67 RS I owned had a bad starter. I would carry a screwdriver with me that I used to cross the starter to start my car. I couldn't afford a new starter at the time. Ahh those were the days
