Hi,

I want to replace my front and rear bumpers on my 1969 Camaro. Any advice on removing them would be greatly appreciated as I have never done anything like this before.

 

I think once you lay on the ground and look up at the bumpers, it will start to make sense. The back bolts (4) are accessed from inside the trunk, look opposite the chrome bracket bolts on the bumper for reference.
The front ones can be removed from underneath the bumper, or you can remove the bumper bracket from the frame if you have to. The bumpers also have lower "horns" that attach to the body, so remove those bolts too. And an extra pair of hands will help to prevent scratching the paint.

The bumper bolts as said above are inside the trunk. From left to right, there's a bolt in the far left corner, 2 bolts under the reverse light, a bolt to the left and to the right of the trunk release, 2 bolts under the reverse light, and then the one in the far right corner. The center 2 bolts go to the tag light bracket. Also, don't forget to disconnect the tag light before removing any bolts.
I'd recommend getting new bolts for it as well. Depending on how long they've been on there, you might have to cut the old nuts off to get the brackets free.

Haven't put the front one on yet, but it's simpler than the rear.

 

A Tip:

Wrap some towels over the ends to avoid hitting the paint with the sharp edge so you wont scratch it if your doing it alone.
