Default 8 inch Corvette Rallys on 69 Camaro

I am about to make a trade , my 68 Corvette for a 69 SS RS Coupe and I don't like the custom wheels that are on the Camaro. The seller has agreed that I can keep the wheels and tires that are on the vette to put on the camaro. My question is, will the eight inch Corvette rally wheels fit with no clearance problems or is the backset different on corvette wheels than the eight inch camaro rallys. Has anyone actually ran eight inch "CORVETTE " rally wheels ?

There was a discussion on this a while back- (inside joke). Chevrolet never put 8 inch Rallyes on a Camaro. If you see them someone else put them on. They should however be fine with no issues. The backspacing is the same as 7 inch. They add the extra width to the front.

Have you actually seen them on a 69 or talked to anyone that has done it. I'm also wondering if they would rub the frame when in full lock position with the wider tires. I just like the looks of a tire a little bit wider than for a seven inch wheel.

I have 7s on the front of mine 69, with 225 60s and they rub when fully turned and going over bumps. I have 8s that are going on the rear, but I am keeping the 7s on the front and going to a more narrow tire. Try this site to compare tire widths for different rims/tires; http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Thanks, Thats what I was affraid of. Maybe I will just run 7 inch on front with standard tire and go with the 8 inch on the back. It's mainly the back anyway that I like the looks of a little wider stance.

You must have an alarm that goes off on your computer when rally wheels are mentioned. "Captain Correcto" over and out....lol

M.I.B., if you really need to know, I can take an 8" rally from my 69 Vette and hang it on the front of the Camaro to see how the tire clears, or not. But then, you could probably do the same, and that would rule out any doubt on your end. What size are your tires, mine are 215 70's.

Thanks, He is probably just going to pay me extra for the vette wheels and tires and I will run the stock 7's on the front and 8's on the back.

I tried 8 inch corvette rims on the 69 camaro with 275s on the rear and 235s on the front and the front rubbed. Had to drop to a 7 inch on the front with 235, works fine.
