69 basket case engine question
I just bought a 69 basket case and I am putting together my plan of how to build it. I want to build a fun street car that has some zip but is comfortable and reliable. It came with a new disk brake setup as well as a complete subframe rebuild kit. My question relates to the engine and transmission. The car had a small block with an automatic, but there is no engine or tranny now. My brother in law has a 94 Caprice with the police package that I can pick up for $500. The car runs well and drives well. Would this set up be a good fit in this car? It would give me every thing I need including A/C if i go that route. I haven't looked at if I can switch it to a carburetor set up or find a custom air filter to use. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like a good deal ... even the police packs came with 267 v8 soo be sure what it is before you buy!
but it would fit.
just be sure to try and hang on to the donor car for as long as you can for the little odds and ends you will need.
you can get an intake manifold from eldelbook to fit those heads and put a carb on . that would look best.

I'm sure those LT1 V8's will fit in that '69 with the right motor mounts and little bit of fabricating! The only tight spot might be the power steering box on the driver's side. Especially with those big exhaust manifolds or headers. Enough tweaking here and there and you'll have a pretty quick machine. What transmission would you put in there? Obviously, the Caprice will have the auto, but a sweet 6 speed will mate to that V8 just fine. Good luck and send some pics!

oh yah , you'll need an electric fuel pump because the block is not drilled for one.
the stock caprice tranny would be great. a 4l60e most likely. overdrive. but it's electronic so you'd need to get a stand alone computer or put all the stock pcm.
wiring harness kits probably exist for that car and motor or get costom made
