Default '69 alternator belt

Can anyone recommend a good way to tighten the alternator belt?. I'm not having much success.('69 with a/c) Putting on a new belt and can't really find a good way to pull the alternator tight enough. Just pulling the alternator by hand isn't doing the trick.

Thanks....

I always used a pry bar on my 68 back in the day. If your car is pretty then use a towel or something to cover the pry bar so you dont scratch you engine.

There is a tool you can buy that is real cheap. It goes between the alternator pulley and crank pulley. You then use an open end wrench to expand the tool and it pushes the two pulleys away from each other. You then tighten the upper and lower alternator bolts. . . . The other way is like Smee78 said, use a pry bar. If you go this route, tighten the bottom bolt first, then the top one.
