Default '68 Speedo quit - How to troubleshoot?

The speedometer on my '68 Camaro suddenly quit working. Can someone please give me some ideas on how to find out what happened and how to repair? Don't know if it matters or not, but the car is a 4 speed manual transmission. Many thanks!!

First two things to check are the speedo cable and the drive gear. Unhook at the trans and see if there isn't a plastic gear that broke in there. You can probably hook a high speed drill to the cable and see if it moves the needle on the speedo at all.
