6 cyl to big block conversion
Newbe here so I'm sure this has been asked before...
Question 1:
Is there anything, but the motor mounts, that needs to be modified or replaced when converting a first gen 6 clyinder to a big block? IE: frame, inner fenders, hood......ect. I realize the radiator will need to be replaced but what about the heater hoses and wiring, ect.
Question 2:
What modifications apply when converting a small block to a big block?
Thanks to all that add to this discusion, it looks like a great rescource!

you will need new mounts, new heater core so the lines will be relocated, possibly stronger tranny and rearend, radiator, frame mounts, front springs, and I would ditch the drum brakes because I'm assuming you're doing this to go faster, and to go faster you have to stop faster. I would actually upgrade the brakes before I even did the engine swap.
this is a very easy swap. one mistake (minor one) people make is that they use small-block mounts and then have clearance problems because those mounts move the engine further back and to the driver's side of the car
hope this helps out a little
