I came up with 7029200 for automatic and 7029201 for a manual. Go to http://www.chevy-camaro.com/parts/chevy-camaro-part-codes-carb.htmfor morepartnumberson holley and rochester carbs on first generation camaros'.
Good find. The Camaro research groupare pretty acurate with thier info. I would go with thier info instead.

I saw plenty of 396's with auto's.....but whats rare, after all these years, is to see one with all the equipment AND all the docs to back it up....so yeah, you DO have a rare car!!

Don't know if you found the answer you were looking for. If not try,

www.holistic.com/camaro/parts/carbs.htm

This will give you a breakdown of all the '69 Camaro Carburators. Some came with Holleys, some Rochesters and some made by Carter for Rochester. The ones built by Carter have Made by Carter stamped on the carb. You were correct with the number you had 7029200, it is the correct series, the last two numbers should be, 01,02,03,04,05 and so on.
Best of luck. I'm jealous.........

Default quadrajet

Here's another place to check

chevyinfo.net/htm_%20pages/carbcode.htm

Don't know why this web page did not turn blue.

I've got a '66 Impala 396 and it is the same carb #

Just above where it says Quadrajet it should say Rochester, the Carter built carbs used the same part numbers. Chevy, or GM for that matter, really weren't choosy what they put where. You might find a number carb designated for a truck sitting on the origional engine in a car. Also GM did not keep any records on the cars they built, except Corvette.

Hope this helps

You sounded like you are kinda new to this so I've probably given you carburetor overload. But I learned by searching the Internet and reading without much help from anyone so I like to help when I can.

This should help:

Camaro Carburetor Identificatio9n.

Example: # 7028219 DG and 1938

70= prefix code "70" will appear on all late 60's Rochester Carbs.
2= Decade production
2=1960's
3=1960's A.I.R.
4=1970-1975
5=1976-1979
6=1980's

8= year produced 1968

model
O-monojet (1bbl) Fed Standards
1-Two jet (2 bbl) " "
2-Quadrajet (4bbl) " "
3-Monojet (1bbl) Califonia Standards
4. Two Jet(2bbl) " "
5. Quadrajet (4bbl) " "

1 General Motors Division 0,1,2 indicate Chevrolet

9 Transmission even numbers = Auto
odd numbers = Manual

DG = Customer Code

1938 = Date Code; located on various locations on different Carbs, This # indicates the mfg. of the the carb. The first three digits correspond to the day of the year and the last number indicates the year of production
example: 1938 = 193rd day of production of 1968

Clear as mud right? Will not bother you any more. but this should give you a heads up on the quadrajet....Don't believe everythig you hear about them.....they are great carbs and will give you great serevice, like anything man made, they have their faults. I and a lot of friends run quads and love them. There never was and never will be the sound produced when you hit the throttle and those two back afterburners kick in .......enjoy my friend
