Default 1st Generation Convertible retrofit ?

Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit a 1st generation convertible with shoulder belts in both the front & rear? I am looking for a 1st gen. convertible but can not buy one unless I can put shoulder belts in it because I have young ones that will be riding in the back. If anyone has any experience with this, is it costly?

Thanks so much!

Sorry Barbara 3rd gen did have a optional shoulder strap for the front seat but not in the rag tops. There is really nothing to attach it to because its just sheet metal right behind the front seat.

Most full car seat work fine with a single lap belt. In fact many car seat injurys are from not using the metal clip required on many seats when a shouder belt is used. Of course booster seats require shoulder belts.

Chances of avoiding an accident and avoiding a injury in a accident a much greater the newer the car you have. The1st Gen do not have the braking or thecrumple zone like a new car. You would be amazed at the safty requirerment they have now just for an arm rest. Wait for the new 2009's they should give you the best of both worlds.
