1968 6 Cylinder vs. 8 cylinder value
Hi all,
I found a 1968 for $12K. It is immaculate. The VIN shows that it was a six cylinder camaro (it now has a V-8).
Obviously, an 8 Cylinder is worth more but is $12K reasonable for this car.
Or can anyone tell me what percentage drop in value a six-cylinder VIN tagged car is to an eight cylinder?
Sure would appreciate your input.

If the car is as immaculate as you say, then that's a good deal even though it doesn't have the original engine. Plain old rolling hulks that are in parts are in the $5k range at least, in my area. There are many non original engine Camaros out there. And whether they started as a 6 cyl. car or not isn't as important as how the car presents itself now. To get a better idea though, we need to see some pictures of it.

Once its not the orginal motor then IMO it does not matter. All numbers matching adds value, but what motor was in a non-SS or "base" camaro when it was original does not matter, atleast to me. Even if the car was a rare 275 HP 327/4 speed/12 bolt rear if those parts are gone then it not worth more then a original V6. Its value is more based on the current hardware and condition.
I certainly appreciate the encouragement here and prompt replies. Will make an effort to get pictures today.
In my research, the worst that I saw was a 6 cylinder was 20% less in value than a V8. Of course, one person's opinion.
I appreciate your help.
