An L72 in a full size 67 Chevy is engine codes: ID and also IK(with smog pump). I've seen a legit 67 Biscayne back in the late 60s. I helped my mom order her 66 Impala, she said it had to have P/S, P/B, A/T, and A/C and the rest was up to me. She ended up with a Danube blue SS convertible with black int white top posi rear and the 390 horse 427.

Just got a picture of the casting number. Best I can tell the casting number is 3999289 that makes it a 454, not a 427. It is a 4 Bolt Main and comes with an aluminum intake. That casting number of the intake is "3933163". Internet says it comes from 396-427 68-69 All Models,69 COPO Camaro and Chevelle Alum,SQ Port,Hi Perf,Also late 68

Still waiting on numbers from the heads. Needs Rods and Pistons. Does have the crankshaft and cast iron headers.

What are your thoughts on picking this up for $1,000.00 bucks plus shipping?
Can you think of any other numbers from the block I need to look for?

Good price and ask for Date code & Engine code on pad in front of pass head.
This will tell when built and original application, if not a restamp.

So the castings in the head are 336781 - GM10T - L18 \ 79 I am guessing that those are 1979 454 Heads.

1973-85 454 Open 113cc. Looks like a 454 4 bolt main block with 454 heads.

Still trying to decide if it is worth the trouble to put it back together.

Low compression with 113 cc heads, maybe 8.0:1 with flat top pistons, and this is fine.
Build it and have torque monster.

454 can be a great build but I don't know that I'd pay $1000 plus shipping for one that is a basket case.
My guess is it's probably a pickup truck or motorhome engine maybe suburban and that's fine but they are a dime a dozen compared to original 427s.
I can find running 454s any day of the week on craigslist for $500-$1000 or rebuildables for less around here.
Here's a few from today. There's probably a dozen including a few completely rebuild for under $2500

4 bolt block here just $150

Those are open chamber heads, actual cc is more in the 118-120 range, not the mis-advertised 113. If you're looking to get some decent performance out of that engine, you'll want to get domed pistons that are meant to accompany the heads. Otherwise, you're gonna have an ultra low compression wheezer, then I'd keep looking for something else.
