i have a 2017 ss convertible. it was seized vehicle. i purchased without amplifier, vent shade and other miscellaneous items. Can someone please help me with the convertible top? when i push the button near rear view mirror it says to secure vent shade. i dont have the vent shade and read i could just disconnect sensor to bypass. i had also tried jumping the sensor to close the loop. now the message says only manual operation is possible. i dont hear any motors or anything when i press the top up/down switch. the amplifier was missing from vehicle and i replaced with an aftermarket unit. could that have anything to do with it? Does anybody know what the problem could be?

 

Is there a foldable shelf the top folds into?
A lot of 'Verts, open the trunk, and if one needs more room, top shelf the top folds into, can be folded up using the supplied lever.
Unfold the shelf and top goes down.
Might be worth the time & money for an Owner's Manual.

After reading some of the owners manual, I found that a partition between trunk and top storage area has to be in place before the top will operate. Have you checked to verify this is installed correctly? Also, you mention getting a message to secure vent shade. I can't find any error messages for a convertible top problem like that. The closest reference in the manual to a vent shade that I could find would be the sunshade of a vent/sunroof.

 

correction to extend vent shade. it says "extend cargo shade to operate top." then when i jump/bypass sensor where the cargo shade snaps on to the message displays "top can only be operated manually." this cargo shade is what i believe to be a partition. i did read the owners manual and it just take to dealer. i attched some pictures of the cargo shade sensor that the shade snaps on to and a picture of the section that opens and the top folds into. the trunk does not open for that stage of top opening.

btw... am selling my 2016 2SS convert/ blk /blk all options, 3700miles because my Macan comes in next week... this cam is perfect and the price is a killer.... low 40's!!! so if you're lookin.. look no further!!

 

Yea just do this, it'll fix it pretty quickly but it's not something you'd probably come up with on your own. I'm surprised the error isn't in the users manual.....
