Default Convertible Top won't go down because rear window is in the way

Hey GUYS (and gals)

I just got a 2000 Camaro today. It is a lot of fun, but needs some serious help.

One of the quirky problems I have is the top doesn't retract right. It's like the window is keeping it from folding in place.

The motor and hydraulic pump work OK and the roof retracts and extends like it should. But it seems like the window doesn't fall into place right and it seems to bind as the top closes.

I have two thoughts:

1) The guy I bought it from said he thought someone replaced it with the wrong window.

2) the window is really loose.

Any ideas? I tried to hold the window in place while my friend retracted the top, but that did not solve the problem either.

Oh yeah, not sure if this is relevant, but many posts say I need to make sure the trunk cover is latched before the top will activate. My car does not have a cover (I am guessing someone just bypassed the switch) Would the cover have anything to do with guiding the top to where it belongs?

i think the "cover" is actually the trunk lid itself and no the trunk can be open... is the plastic piece that separates the trunk from the cabin getting in the way? can you take a vid of it going down or some pics of it? i had a convertible so im pretty knowledgeable of them

That's the weird part, there is not one in my car. Sitting in the back seat, I can see all the way into my trunk.

I will work on the vid, after all, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Yeah I'm a little lost on this also, Nothing with the trunk matters, unless you have something in the way of where the top sits. Post the video and we'll go from there.

Here is a weekend update. I tried to manually lower the top and no matter what, the window always got in the way. Another convertible parked next to me today and I noticed I have 12 defroster lines on my window and they had like 8. Their window was a hand length wide, and mine is about 1 and 1/2 hand lengths.

I do believe someone put a mustang window in my car :-(

Anyone get a new top and have an old window for sale?
