2019 v6 Camaro knocking on 87 octane
Long story short I started hearing some knock when going up hill. Moved to 93 and it helped but still occasionally did it. While cleaning the engine bay I noticed one of the screws in my filter housing was not screwed in. Realizing that could cause a vacuum leak and knock I tightened it. The knock went away. I went back to 87. Today, it was knocking worse than ever. Even on flat road when going pretty easy. I added an octane booster and filled up with 93 and after driving it a bit the knock is gone. Has anyone experienced this and or have an idea of why this is. I'm assuming it has to do with the ECU and me switching octane ratings but it still doesn't explain why it started to begin with.
It is hard for me to diagnose this without all the information.
How many miles?
Stick or Auto?
but I do believe in my heart, that since it is 2021 that it has some miles on it.
So....definitive answer:
REPLACE ALL SPARK PLUGS!!!! Also look for fuel in the plugs and oil. Then maybe you can replace one bad coil pack and the engine will be back to 100%!!!
