High Octanne
I am thinking about buying a pre owned 2010 Camaro SS. I was wondering if everyone uses high octane gas?
I am not buying this for the gas mileage but just wanted to know if you guys use and recommend high octane for such a powerful machine!!
All responses are greatly appreciated!!

+1 on going by the user manual.
High octane, usually 93, is meant for cars with a high compression ratio, because it can be compressed more before exploding. Filling a car with a lower octane than it calls for will make the a/f ratio to explode before the stroke is finished, and before the spark plugs fire. This will put a lot of stress on all engine components, specifically the valves, piston head, and rods. The knock sensor is meant to prevent this...but like everything else, it can only do so much.
The same goes for cars that call for a low octane, such as 87. It's bad for the engine and a waste of money to put a higher octane in it. And from my experience, octane boosters do not work.
I've run my Camaro with 87 when I first got it. Then I realized I should be running 93. After finally getting a complete tank of just 93, the car ran flawlessy. Before it had some minor problems. I honestly don't mind paying $4.05/gallon ($3.79 back home).

The owners manual for the 2010 Camaro SS requires 91 or higher octane fuel. The recommended gasoline would be top tier detergent gasoline with a rating of premium unleaded. I hope this helps to answer your question SSTHUNDER.
