change rear gear help

They do, but strength is determined not just by material or manufacturing process, but it's diameter and even the ratio plays a part in strength. If I'm not mistaken, the 5th gens came stock with a 8.6in ring gear, which usually is more than plenty, even for a built up vehicle. But like Cheeks said, a 9in is basically indestructible and is the best option, if they make one for the 5th gen.

My buddy (pushing +600HP) went through several different gears. The only issue he had with any of them is that he stretched the housing and in turn pulled the pinion out enough to chip some teeth on the ring. The 2010 has an aluminum housing that didn't stand up to what he was putting down, the ZL1's is steel or cast or something stronger. The solution he went with was some kind of preload bolts that go through the whole thing to keep it from stretching. I dont know exactly what they are called though, maybe someone here knows.

Unfortunately, when you build one portion of the car, you gotta build the rest of it to handle all that power. In addition to building your rearend, I'm sure your tranny will need some attention. I had to do the same for my diesel truck. Built trans and upgraded rearend.

Changing the gears will only be a temporary solution. Read this article:
