So my team is prepping this Camaro to race in the 24 hours of Lemons. It's in good shape but we are looking to source a spare motor.
If I go to LKQ's webpage and look up a 2013 Chevy Camaro 3.6l LFX motor it is priced at $2300. If I look up a 2013 Cadillac CTS 3.6l LFX motor it's $750 and If I look up a 2013 Chevy Impala 3.6l LFX motor it's like $350. Now I'd like to think they are just marking it up because "Camaro" But I'm guessing not all LFX motor are the same. I'm willing to swap intake manifolds and accessories if need be onto the "NEW" motor but I'd rather not have to do a chain/heads install track side. Are all LFX motors the same? Can I strip a CTS/Impala/Terrain motor down to the "long block" and if something happens "dress" the long block in the broken motors donor parts? or are the bottom end components all different for every model.
Second question, Do you know anyone who runs the Camaro platform in Champ, or IMSA, or NASA who can tell me the weak/reliability issues we might run into with this platform in a full endurance race setting. Thank You
David

Hopes and Dreams Racing,
Please post anything you find. When I was doing my 4th gen we did not have a thread with all the engine data like we have now. What I had to do myself was I found a sight the sold remanufactured long blocks V6s and I checked their list of cars that it fit. Junk yards said none of the FWD v6's would fit. Infact most people said the FWD would not fit. That was from the previous V6 in the early 4th gens. The 3.4 FWD did not have a place to put a motor mount on the right side of the motor. The 3800 had the mounting holes in all its forms. So as long as you are willing to strip the motor to the long block you could us it. Junk yards sell engines based on them being direct bolt in replacement without a lot of work.
According to the web site I found there are a lot of options for the 3.6 LFX including the 2012-2020 Impala, there is a 2012 near me that needs an engine for 3K. I searched near by engines and all I could find Impala under 100K miles was $1500.
