Default pontiac camaro.....

alright i no this is a camaro forum but it involes my pontiac 350????? going in it...

so i got a motor from my buddie to day and im trying to get the casting codes to know year of motor size stroke etc.. but my codes arnt matching with anyone of the pontiac codes and i no its a pontiac an idea where to get the codes....

i found wat heads they are 7h1 for a 350 and there the orgianl heads and the code on the front passinger side block below head is YR 0246395
but on diver side of the block it has 350 casted into the block and as of so far wat i no thes c.i.d of motor i just wanna be sure before i start buying parts...

its going in a 89 camaro rs it has a 305 in it now.. i got the motor for free from my buddy because he said i could beat his 94 z28 this season.... so he gave me a motor to put in mine lol

You don't even know what year the pontiac motor is. Third gen Firebirds didn't come with Pontiac motors so you will have to make motor mounts

i belive it came out of a 1972 lemans this is wat a was told but im not sure... and im trying to do my reseach before i attepmt it to see if its worth the time...

Your going to need a transmission to fit that motor. Those older pontiac 350's in there stock form are not great motors. 71-72 was the beginning of the smog years. Its going to be a lot of work just to gain 20-40 HP.
