age old question.

Ther'es know doubt about that, more cost cuting,i'm sure. Most have probably read this, http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...cs/Myths.aspxe Mobil 1 sight, but for those that havn't,it's got some interesting info.I do realize some new vehicles come w/ it from the factory, but am confused by other Mfgr.'s statements about "special additives for break-in" being in new cars for the 1st 3K interval. As that link shows,Mobil1 does have higher capacity filters w/ a differant filter medium.I believe K & N does also. Afer all is said & done,I still agree with Z28Pete,in so far as sticking with the factory recommended intervals.I have used synthetics for all there superior qualities,to enhance all parameters of a lubricants job.Not to extend change intervals.I still think it's best thought of as reasonably cheap insurance ! westmassk

I usually change oil at 4K when on Full Synthetic... This is a good point about the filter, however -- I'm going to look into a bigger filter that fits, as some others have done...
Probably won't make much difference one way or the other. But it would be a good idea to switch to synthetic sooner than later. And keep changing oil every 3000 miles. The oil itself may last 10000 miles, but it continues to collect dirt. When the filter is full of dirt the bypass valve opens and now you have dirty unfiltered oil "polishing" your engine.

or my moms 2009 chrysler 300 with the 3.5 V6 with only 23k on it changed the oil every time (dealer claims syn can go 10k) so of course she let it go and now its in the shop getting a nice new engine shtty chryslers
