You should ask the car dealer or a factory rep. Regardless what any one tells you, the factory makes the rules as far as warranty is concerned. If you are just changing the filter element, it should be no problem, but if you are altering the intake plumbing they may give you a hardtime if they feel that was what cused the problem.

A K&N Air Intak kit can harm your warranty. GM's stance is that any changes to the vehicle that would result in the vehicle not being the same as it came from the factory would constitute as a modifaction and would then possibly cause your warranty to be voided. If you modify your vehicle I would check with your dealership before hand to make sure that in case you have an issue they would be willing to help you. I hope that helps to answer your question.
