The base Camaro won't have a 6.0 Liter engine. It will have either a 3.6 pushrod or a 3.8. The 6.0 will most likely ne the new Z28 or SS. Although the SS will probably be made to compete with Ford's Shelby GT500 Mustang. Anyway you shape it the car will still be faster than most others in its class.

Well the way it seems things are these days with newer cars and domestic dealerships (not a rice fan) the price on the new z28 will be AT LEAST $35k msrp (stripped, no options) and you will be shooting for at least $40k msrp for an SS. I am just saying this because look at what happened with the 03-04 Marauder, GTO, any Hemi equipped Dodge, even the newer Mustang GT's can still be found at lots used w/ plenty of miles and still going for over $20k. When those cars came out I never found any thing under $30k. I know I'm gonna get flamed for these comments but it just seems as though there is no hope for another affordable V-8 RWD sports car in our future. I think I'll just keep saving up till they end up on the used car lots w/ no less than 30k miles on them and maybe pick one up for a reasonable $25k (z28 haha). I am also predicting a HUGE markup the first two years just like the 05 Mustang GT's unfortunately. I can pray that these things wont come true but after seeing the way Ford, Dodge, and Chevy have been going I know my prayers will fall on deaf ears. And to the post above personally I have always seen the z28 over the years good competition to the GT equipped stangs but in the past the n/a SS couldnt hang with the Cobra's (esp. 03-04) right ? At these outrageous prices though, I think that new Challenger looks awfully tempting if they finish it right cuz every time I see that concept my heart sinks it looks just like the original Challengers.

The 2002 SS's were around $33k, 7 years later, I wouldn't be supprised if the top v8 model was close to $40k and that wouldn't bother me. I know this is import .vs domestic, but the new 350z GT model is pushing $37k, thats' what I'm deciding between!

I read on Yahoo Autos that the Camaros will be comparably priced with the Mustang. It actually makes alot of sense to be better than the competition and at the same price.

From what my chevy high performance magizine says theres talk of putting a supercharged ls3 as the top model with options such as cowl hood with fuctionable air intake and over 500 hp if gm is charging 80 grand for a new Z06 with 500 hp whos the say the top camaro with over 500 hp wont be atleast 40 grand plus by then sources say corvette z07 will have over 700 horse power

I heard about the LS3 idea too, sounds like a good one! But as far as price goes, all i know is it wont be 50K because domestics are trying to keep the costs of their cars down so people will buy em and not go the european or asian route. I know alot of BMWs and Mercedes are expensive, but like VW and Audi etc arent as well as honda and all those other cars. Thats why domestic manufacturers are going to eventually die out. They are trying to compete with more "efficient" cars that cost a lil less. No one will want to pay higher gas prices on a big LS3 and so they will die out. The reason why Mustangs and Camaros have had a "fair" price range for their performance is because their competing but that competition is leading to their down fall. If that makes sense... I kinda lost myself for a second.. lol

The new CTS-V's are suppose to get 600HP with a supercharged LS7. The new C6 Z06 will also be getting a supercharged LS7, and the even newer "Blue Devil" Z07 will be getting around 700HP. The 5th gen. Camaro will probably get the LS3, and you can expect the base V8 to be no more than $30,000 MSRP with probably a $5,000 dealer mark-up for a while. As I posted earlier you can most likely expect the Camaro and Mustang to be comparably priced. GM is going to want to sell Camaros this time around, not have them sit on the showroom floor.

Chevrolet stated that it WOULD NOT be priced to where it would compete with the vette....

That being said, the top of the line '09 camaro would probably range from 30,000 to 35,000

I wouldn't be surprised if it would hit 40,000.... but that's tops

i was reading some where online, forgot where, but that there will be a 3.6, 3.8, LS1 5.7, LS2 6.0, and LS3 6.2(and supercharged).
prices being(if memory serves)19k, 22k, 29k, 34k, and 41k.
having horses of 200, 230, 380, 420, and 560(560 and 420 mite be a lil high,memory >.&lt
and claiming that once again, the 3.8 will beat base model 4.6 mustangs(doubtfully though) and that the LS3 will be almost a second faster than the 500 horse mustang.

although, i dont remember site or if it is reliable.
