Default price on the new camaro

well i just witnessed myself a video of the camaro concept and frankly i am enthused for this car to come out. I think that this car is going to be a huge hit and maybe even sell more then the Ford Mustang. It models the 69 camaro, only the new one gives it more of a retro and aggresive look. It comes stock iwth a 6.0 liter (368 Cubic) with 400 horsepower, an option of standard or automatic tranny. I think that this car is going to be huge. However, i am kind of curious on the price. I've heard different things about it, is it going to be the same as the new Ford Mustangs for price. if anyone knows what the starting price for this car it would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

My guess is around $47,000. But that's right around how much an '06 Mustang Saleene costs, so I guess we're on the same page there.

You're nuts if you think they are going to charge almost 50 grand for the new Camaro... I would say about 30,000-35,000 would be the top model. they want to sell these cars not have them sitting on the lot because no one can afford them. If you actually look at new car prices they have dropped significantly. You can get several 07/08's for under 20,000. I would say that the six cylinder will be about 18,000. 22 for the convertible sixer, 24-26 for the base V8 and 28-30 for the Z28 V8 and then of course z28 convert will be slightly higher priced. The fact of the matter is that it is a camaro. The camaro has always been the sports car for everyone, there's no way anyone will buy it if they can get a corvette for the same price. Corvettes are made for the "select few" Camaros are made for the rest of us.

We'll just have to see about that one. I still think it's going to be at least 40 grand.

I had an earlier post here somewhere that was a quote from GM saying it was going to be priced to be competetive. I interpreted it to say that they were going to be priced lower than the competetion. I highly doubt a fully optioned out ragtop would top $38,000. Sticker on the supercharged shelby mustang ragtop is $42,000 and the Camaro will definately be less than that unless they put the 500 horse engine in it. If it stickers at $42,000 I'll just get a used Z06 vette instead......

like the guy said before me, a corvette is for a select few, the camaro is for the rest of us. myself ive never considered a corvette a muscle car, its just a sports car. the camaro goes back, way back. everyone has either had a camaro or known someone whos had a camaro. the Camaro is by far my favorite muscle car of all time and i am amped for the new one

Aren't Z06's like $70,000 now? I would hope that GM would keep the concept that the camaro is the budget sports car for everyone and the corvette is for the select few. But Z06's (C5s) used to be like $50k right? Now they're 70k? Is there a trend starting? Could the camaro possibly cost as much as $40k (top model)?

Not sure I completely understand this statement... You mean a 500hp camaro for $40k? Or a z06 for $40k? If the z06 were 40k, yes indeed, start standing in line. But your saying that if the camaro were 40k you'd be pleased and stand in line for it?

Weren't 90s z28s like 18-20k? (that was in yesterday's dollars, i know). But that would still be less than 40kin today's dollars. The base v6's were like 15k (back in the 90s). Now we're talking about eagerly standing in line for a $40k camaro?

i think its gonna be around 30k, it has the same engine as the gto, and is going to be built on the same frame so i think it will be around that, but now they are saying its 500hp i think thats just insane, if it is 500hp it will be around 40k for sure
