LS9 FOR SS CAMARO (is it true)
Ummmm, if you READ the thread I think you'll see that the idea of the LS9 was nixed. As for the new MPG standards, I think if you read it you'll find that it is 35MPG FLEET AVERAGE, not 35 mpg for each car/model/drivetrain. Your strong belief in the LS2 is not warranted as the LS2 has been pretty much phased out of production already. L76 and LS3 are likely choices (LS3, etc. are likely the last of the forth gen. smallblocks)but with GMs fifth generation smallblocks about to hit the scene, anything is possible, maybe the new Camaro will get one of the new fifth gen. smallblocks.

Well, Why would Chevrolet state that the 2009 Camaro is coming with an LS2 on their website if it isn't? As much as I want the LS3 to be in the SS, my money is on the LS2.
The only mention I've seen on any of Chevy's official websites about the LS2 is that the Camaro Concept is equipped with one, I have not seen them say anywhere that the new 2010 Camaro is coming out with the LS2. You'll also note that it will be a MY 2010, not 2009 model, though it is tentatively scheduled to be in dealerships first quarter of 2009 (Jan., Feb., March).

Apparently the only other car to get the LS9 is the new Cadillac CTS-V, where it will be tuned to 550 HP only: GM wants to make sure you pay a lot of money if you're going to get that engine, I guess. I may go look at it, as I drove and liked the new direct injected (306 HP) CTS a month ago, it just had no omph of the line.

I dont really think GM is gonna go with a LS9, GM's most likely to go with an LS3 for the Z28 model and an LS7 for the SS.But who knows GM is putting out alot of new LS engines.
