ive been reading and i found some heads for my 305 but i dont know which ones i should get when it comes time. i found the world products torqer 305 heads, the edelbrock performers, and the gm vortech heads. i have no idea which ones to get, then on top of that im not sure which intake manifold or carburator. i really want to go with the cheapest combo, but i also want the power. i want to know what you guys think.

Try to get a matched set, heads, intake manifold, camshaft, carburator. These combinations have been tested at the factory, work good toghether, and give you good power for your bux. If you go to Vortech heads you will need a Vortech manifold. If you start mixing & matching and don't have the expertise, you will probably spend more money and the results won't be as good.

IMO, GM Vortec setups are niiiicee
Cheap too. I found a couple of pick-a-parts in dallas that sell vortec heads for $44 per head. You do have to remove the head from the vehicle yourself, but it's not hard to take a head off. Might want to factor in the cost of a little machine work too.
