Default 69 Z28 Maybe ?

I purchased a 69 Camaro according to cowl tag, built in Norwalk Ohio, !st week November 1968. GM tells me X codes placed on cowl tags after Dec B, 1968. Any means of confirming this 69 as a Z28. Would appreciate any sugestions. Also with the ZL2 option hood ordered I'm finding it came with an option air induction on the back side with vacuum set up and switch on dash. If this was ordered on the SS, not the Z,could the cowl induction name plates for the side of the hood be ordered. Thanks,Buckman.

Look at glove box door and read tire sticker.
Only Z/28's came with 15 inch wheels.

There is no way to be sure, Heck you can go to a car show and see a perfect 69 Z28 with all the documentation and there is no way to be sure it was a real Z28 when new. This is because of the value. At this point even an all numbers matching Z is most likely a clone. There are very few unknown facts about the 1st gen camaros and there is a lot of profit in building clones. It pretty common to see the "X" cars advertised as just that, a possible fake Z. Same thing with "correct" casting number motors that can be re-stamped.

The only way to be sure is unorthodox documentation leading all the way back to the original owners. A picture with the original owner with a latter say that was the original owner and documents to back that up. One guy at a show proudly displays a ticket his father got 3 months after he bought the car that the cop wrote Z28 under the model type.

You should check out the forged documents you can find online. They can be order with what looks like correct aging and even random coffee stains. People get away with this because they can say that did it to win a car show. Building a unorthodox documentation trail and making up people and fake signing letter would only have one purpose.
