Default paint

i was wondering about painting my car but i did not know if i should just paint the outside or if i should peel everything off and paint the entire car again. and if i were to do that would anyone happen to know how much it would cost and how long it would take?

If you don't know then it would be cheaper to have a shop do a paint job. If you paint your car right it will run anywhere from 300 to 1500 depending on the paint and supplies you get. There is alot more to it then just spraying over the old paint. As far as time, it would take you alot longer to get it the way you want it if you havn't done a car before.

you wouldnt have to pull the motor, just the outside trim, and the trim around the door openongs. Everything else would be taped off and plasticed. It would be a good idia to take the door panels off.

You want a nice job and the door jambs painted. Pull the stuff off yourself to save the labor cost of that. You want your engine comprtment painted and looking factory new. Pull your motor. You want just to refresh it and make it shine again. Pull off you extrior trim and door handles and what ever does not get painted and take it to a body shop to paint it. Doing that kind of work yourself will save you that labor cost but if you scratch it putting it together its on you, not the shop.

as an ABSOLUTE minimum, you want to take everything off the outside of the car that can be removed (window molding, lights, door handles and door locks, trim moldings, gaskets and weatherstripping). taping off stuff is saved fo rcheap paint jobs

supplys for a good job are going to be hundreds of dollars alone. the clear on my car was over $300.00 a gallon and that was 4 years ago.

if you've never had any experience with this and don't have the place to do it or someone local to help you out if you get stuck, I'd leave it to the pros
